MOUZ eked out a 2-1 win over paiN Gaming as play received underway Wednesday within the BLAST Rivals Spring occasion at Copenhagen, Denmark.
Becoming a member of MOUZ in logging an opening-match victory in Group A was Staff Vitality, who beat Wildcard 2-0.
In Group B, Staff Spirit swept FlyQuest 2-0 and Staff Falcons downed FaZe Clan 2-0.
The eight-team, $350,000 Counter-Strike: World Offensive event is starting with the groups break up into two double-elimination teams.
The winners of every group will transfer to the playoff semifinals. The group runners-up will head to the quarterfinals as excessive seeds, and the third-place groups will land within the quarterfinals as low seeds. The fourth-place groups in every group will likely be eradicated.
The only-elimination playoffs run Friday by Sunday. All group-stage matches and playoff matches are best-of-three apart from the grand ultimate, which will likely be best-of-five. The champion group will obtain $125,000, and the runner-up will get $75,000.
On Wednesday, MOUZ opened with a 13-9 win on Nuke earlier than paiN claimed a 13-11 victory on Inferno. MOUZ took the decisive third map 13-0 on Mud II.

Vitality dumped Wildcard 13-7 on Inferno, 13-6 on Mud II behind 43 kills and a plus-23 Ok-D differential from Nice Britain’s William “mezii” Merriman. The USA’ Josh “JBa” Barutt posted 27 kills and a minus-3 Ok-D differential for Wildcard.
Spirit stomped FlyQuest 13-2 on Mirage, 13-9 on Nuke. Russia’s Danil “donk” Kryshkovets completed with 45 kills and a plus-20 Ok-D differential for Spirit. New Zealand’s Corey “nettik” Browne notched 25 kills and a minus-6 Ok-D differential for FlyQuest.
Falcons flew previous FaZe 13-6 on Mud II, 13-10 on Historic. Russia’s lya “m0NESY” Osipov registered 40 kills and a plus-17 Ok-D differential for Staff Falcons. The USA’ Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski wound up with 32 kills and a fair Ok-D differential for FaZe Clan.
