Three-time All-Star second baseman Brandon Phillips will signal a one-day contract with the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday and retire as a member of the franchise.
Saturday will likely be a giant day for Phillips, who will likely be inducted into the Reds’ Corridor of Fame. He joins Aaron Harang, Reggie Sanders and Lou Piniella as members of the 2026 class.
Phillips, 44, started his profession with the Cleveland franchise in 2002 earlier than becoming a member of the Reds in 2006, staying in Cincinnati via the 2016 season. He recorded probably the most hits (1,774), homers (191), RBIs (851) and doubles (311) by a second baseman in Reds’ historical past.
A four-time Gold Glove recipient, Phillips completed his profession with the Atlanta Braves (2017), Los Angeles Angels (2017) and Boston Purple Sox (2018).
